Safe things to check first

Washer Repair — quick answers
Do I need to empty the water before you come?
No. Leave it. Seeing how the machine handles a full tub tells us whether the pump is dead, partly blocked, or being shut down by a sensor. If the water is spilling, shut the lid and unplug the unit.
Can a front-loader smell be fixed, or is the washer done?
Usually fixable. Odor comes from residue in the door boot folds, the dispenser, and the drain trap. We clean or replace the boot if it's torn and check that the drain isn't holding standing water between loads.
My washer walks across the laundry room. Is that serious?
It can be. Sometimes it's just leveling feet on an old sloped floor. Other times the suspension has worn out and the tub is swinging into the cabinet, which eventually damages the bearing. Worth looking at soon.
Is it worth repairing an older top-loader?
Often yes. Older top-loaders use simple mechanical parts that are still available. We look at the condition of the transmission and tub bearing first, since those drive the decision, then tell you honestly what we'd do.
Do you work on stacked laundry units?
Yes. Stacked and closet-installed sets need the machine unstacked or pulled to reach the pump and rear panel, so we plan for room and a place to set the dryer while we work.
How do I stop clogs from coming back?
Empty pockets, and check the pump filter on front-loaders every couple of months. Coins, hairpins, and bra wires do most of the damage. We'll show you where the filter access door is before we leave.
